Maytag Bravos XL Washer, Start Button Not Responding

A customer's Maytag Bravos XL washer (model MVWB835DW3) had a Start button that stopped responding, even though the outlet had proper power and the washer had worked normally the day before. Diagnostics on the user interface board and main control board showed that this model's control area sits in a spot exposed to moisture, steam, and detergent residue during normal wash cycles, and buildup there can disrupt communication between the control board and the UI panel. The control assembly was removed and the board connections and exposed circuitry were inspected, then cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and precision swabs to remove residue and contamination. After cleaning and reassembly, the washer powered up properly and the Start button responded normally again. The unit was tested and completed a full cycle without issues.

Whirlpool WTW4816FW3 Washer, Stuck in Drain Mode

A Whirlpool WTW4816FW3 washer was continuously stuck in drain mode after the final spin cycle, with no indicator lights and the sound of the unit constantly trying to pump out water. A full diagnostic and reset procedure was performed, but the washer kept running the drain pump even after the reset. The pressure sensor hose was removed and the drain system was verified with a multimeter, which confirmed the drain pump itself tested good, helping isolate the real issue. Diagnosis pointed to a failed pressure sensor circuit on the main control board, the component that tells the washer when the tub is empty. Because the pressure sensor is integrated into the control board on this model, the repair would require replacing the entire board. After reviewing the repair cost, the customer decided it made more sense to replace the washer rather than install a high-cost control board.

A Splendide WFL1300XD washer in an RV was stuck cycling through diagnostic codes and behaving unpredictably, continuously looping through its internal diagnostic sequence instead of operating normally. Testing showed the UI board responded correctly with no signs of failure, but the motor control unit produced inconsistent readings during multimeter testing, pointing to a possible electrical irregularity rather than a clear component failure. Splendide technical support was contacted to confirm the diagnosis, and after reviewing the symptoms and electrical readings, their technician indicated the issue was most likely caused by unstable power from the RV's inverter system rather than a failure of the washer itself. Because the problem traced back to the RV's power supply rather than the appliance, no appliance repair was performed. This is a useful reminder for RV owners that appliances depend heavily on stable inverter and shore power, and voltage fluctuations or inverter issues can cause appliances to behave erratically or enter diagnostic modes even when the appliance itself is fully functional.

Kenmore Elite Dryer Repair, Runs But Won't Heat

A Kenmore Elite electric dryer was running but not heating. After full disassembly and inspection, severe lint accumulation was found inside the cabinet and blower housing. Excessive lint buildup restricts airflow, increases operating temperatures, and is one of the most common causes of premature thermal fuse failure. Diagnostic testing showed the heating element resistance within normal operating range, the high-limit thermostat showing continuity (closed), and the thermal fuse showing an open circuit with no continuity, with voltage supply verified at the terminal block. The open thermal fuse confirmed an overheat condition, and restricted ventilation from internal lint contamination likely caused elevated exhaust temperatures that led to the fuse failing as a safety response. The thermal fuse was replaced, the internal ducting and blower housing were cleaned, and airflow and heater operation were verified before reassembly and function testing. Even when external venting looks clear, heavy internal lint accumulation can significantly affect performance and component longevity, and if a dryer runs but doesn't heat, or takes multiple cycles to dry, airflow and the overheating protection devices should be tested with a multimeter before replacing major components.

A Samsung WA56H9000AP/A2 top load washer was continuously filling with water, even when the machine was turned off. Diagnosis pointed to a faulty water inlet valve with a stuck-open solenoid, which allowed water to keep flowing regardless of the machine's state. The complete water inlet valve assembly was replaced. After the repair, the washer filled, sensed the water level, and shut off properly with no overflow. If a washer is overfilling, constantly running water, or won't shut off, a failing inlet valve is a common cause.
